Burnout

Burnout is a state of physical, emotional, and mental exhaustion caused by excessive and prolonged stress. The following are some common signs and symptoms of burnout:

  1. Emotional exhaustion: Feeling depleted of energy and emotion, and having a reduced ability to handle stress.
  2. Depersonalization: A detached and cynical attitude towards work, people, and life in general.
  3. Decreased sense of personal accomplishment: Feeling ineffective, unproductive, and dissatisfied with one’s work.
  4. Physical symptoms: Fatigue, insomnia, headaches, and gastrointestinal problems.
  5. Decreased motivation and engagement: A lack of interest in work and decreased motivation to complete tasks.
  6. Increased absenteeism and turnover intention: Taking more time off work or considering quitting one’s job.
  7. Negative affect: Increased irritability, frustration, and a negative outlook.
